ON-SITE SUPERVISION

Our Environmental Consultants provide on-site supervision and ecological oversight to support vegetation clearance, demolition, and enabling works, ensuring activities proceed in full compliance with planning conditions and wildlife legislation.

We act as Ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW), delivering pragmatic, real-time advice to contractors and site teams. Our role is to identify risks as they arise, implement appropriate mitigation, and keep works moving safely and legally.

All supervision is undertaken in accordance with current best practice, including guidance from the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, and aligned with relevant UK legislation.

Our services are typically deployed during:

  • vegetation clearance works; including tree felling and arboricultural operations;

  • pre-demolition and soft strip activities; and

  • destructive searches under licence (e.g. for bats or other protected species).

Our approach is proportionate and delivery-focused. We work closely with site teams to minimise delays, avoid unnecessary stoppages, and ensure ecological constraints are managed efficiently.

Where constraints are identified, we provide clear, immediate instruction—allowing works to proceed whilst maintaining compliance.

On-site support. Instant advice.

An Ecological Clerk of Works is being performed by an ecological consultant. They are looking for the presence of nesting birds and roosting bats prior to demolition activities. He will provided instant advice to the client in the field.

supervision we offer

ecow supervision

Our Ecological Clerk of Works consultants provide on-site ecological supervision during sensitive works, ensuring compliance with planning conditions and wildlife legislation. We deliver toolbox talks, monitor works in real-time, and provide clear, pragmatic advice to site teams to minimise risk and avoid unnecessary delays.

nesting birds

Our Environmental Consultants inspect vegetation and structures for active nests prior to and during clearance works, ensuring compliance with wildlife legislation. Where nesting is identified, we provide clear, site-specific guidance to allow works to continue lawfully while avoiding disturbance.

pre-works
checks

We undertake targeted ecological surveys prior to works starting to discharge planning conditions and confirm the presence or likely absence of ecological constraints. These checks are designed to provide certainty at the point of mobilisation, enabling works to proceed without risk of non-compliance.
